Luke Ski

The Great Luke Ski

At Dragon*Con 2004, Dr. Demento declared "the great Luke Ski" to be his radio program's "Most Requested Artist of the 21st Century". Luke has held onto that title by having multiple songs on "The Dr. Demento Show's" year-end "Funny 25" countdown of his most requested songs of the year for the past seven years, including two of them at #1. Hissong parodies, originals, stand-up and sketches about pop culture phenomena (doot doo, do-do-do!) have made him a favorite performer at science-fiction and fandom conventions all across the Midwest and beyond. He's released nine albums over the past fifteen years, many of which feature collaborations and cameos by his fellow comedy musicians of the Funny Music Project (the FuMP dot com), most significantly Carrie Dahlby, who often sings lead vocals on Luke's parodies of female musicians. His past hits amongst his fans include songs aboutSpider-Man, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Battlestar Galactica, Babylon 5, Doctor Who, Heroes, 24, and Family Guy, with more recent hits about horror icons (Freddy, Jason, Chucky, etc.), Lost, and the new Star Trek movie. He recently performed at the "Nerdapalooza" nerdcore music festival, and his ode to pack-rats entitled "Too Much Stuff" is currently one of the most requested song of 2009 on "the Dr. Demento Show". Bryan Ward

Bryan Ward

Bryan started drawing at a very young age, growing up in his hometown of Hannibal, Mo. Working with crayons, markers, pencils and paints he drew everything from cartoon characters to his favorite baseball players. During high school he discovered Prismacolor colored pencils, which became the medium he would work in exclusively from that point forward. Prismacolor allowed him to get the look and feel of a painting, paired with the control of holding a pencil. Bryan attended CMSU in Warrensburg, Mo., majoring in Commercial art with an emphasis in Illustration. Over the past 15 years he has put his illustration knowledge to use in many fields including screen printing, graphic design and even comic book illustration.

Bryan has had a lot of influences that helped develop his illustration style, including his dad, an artist himself, has had a huge impact on Bryan’s style. Sports illustrator Vernon Wells’ art influenced Bryan in his younger years doing sports illustration. However, Bryan's main influence is Drew Struzan, whose style and movie poster work helped inspire most of the work he does today.

Bryan's technique has been refined over many years and is a combination of Prismacolor colored pencils and marker under base. For more information of his work visit www.bryaneward.com

Fredd Gorham

Fredd Gorham

was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on March 7th, 1965 to people who would become my parents, my life would take an artistic bend when I accidentally blew my grandmother's house off it's foundation in 1970. While home repairs were in progress, my grandfather would bring over some typewriter paper and a large permanent marker (the kind that makes you taste copper when the cap is removed) and he would perform magic for me. He would ask me to pick an object for him to draw. I would pick one and then he would do his magic. He would take two pieces of typewriter paper, place one on top of the other, and then draw the object. He would then take the two pieces of paper and show me that, magically, the drawing would become *two* sketches before my unbelieving eyes. That was when I fell in love with art. I wanted to be part of the magic grandpa had shown me.

I started my professional art career while in elementary school by selling drawings of Snoopy, The Yellow Submarine and Spiderman for a $1 a drawing during recess. Later, in 1986 I received my Masters in Graphic Design from University of Iowa and began a rather uninteresting career in advertising. All in all, I had a lot more fun drawing Spiderman during recess. I eventually left the corporate knuckle-draggers to follow my dreams of being a freelance illustrator. After jumping through several fiery hoops I managed to find work with several comic book companies: Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Caliber Press and Malibu Graphics to name a few. My best known creation is Steel Angel, a tongue-in-cheek cyberpunk adventure book that I published at Caliber Press. While working in the comic book industry I once again managed to make my saving throw vs. minimum wage employment, and I began to get a lot of illustration work from the likes of Iron Crown Enterprises, Hero Games, R. Talsorian and Steve Jackson Games. I was a regular staff artist for I.C.E. for four years, producing approximately 800 pieces of artwork for various game supplements for Champions and Rolemaster. I currently do work for Steve Jackson Games and Fantasy Flight Games, producing artwork for In Nomine, Traveller, and Disk Wars. My most recent work just appeared in The Deadlands Disk Wars game Range Wars.

I also work as a Senior Web Developer for an interactive firm here in the big "O", designing more than a few sites for large corporations. My current website ("The Utopian Home Presence") is chuck full of potential blackmail material.

My goal in life? To be a real live boy.

Look at the Con for his new make-up appliance line, masks, corpses, props & more!

Mike also broke into writing, producing, and directing his own independent features in 1995 by starting his own production company Oaktree Studios motion picture/video productions with his directorial debut of Vile 21. A sci-fi monster movie that uses old-fashion stop-motion animation for the monster and one of maybe the only independent features at this level to feature a full body burn and car roll. It was distributed by Brimstone Productions out of New York and was picked up in Germany & Indonesia, and is now distributed through Royal Oaks Distribution (a division of Oaktree Studios). Mike has since finished two additional features that are in post production Hotel Of Terror and Mystery, Monsters, And Magic. Cullen Bunn

Cullen Bunn

...'s fiction and non-fiction has appeared in a number of magazines and anthologies. Somewhere along the way, he founded Undaunted Press and edited the small press horror magazine, Whispers from the Shattered Forum. He also managed to win the infamous World Horror Convention Gross-Out Contest four times -– an honor for which he is proud, appreciative, and–at least a little–ashamed.

The first issue of Cullen's horror noir comic book, The Damned, was released by Oni Press in 2006. The first story arc, Three Days Dead, has been collected in trade paperback. The second story arc, Prodigal Sons, has been published as a three-issue mini series. A third arc, Daughter's Danse, is forthcoming.

Since the publication of The Damned, Cullen has focused primarily on writing comic books. Oni Press will soon be publishing The Tooth, a tribute to the comic book horror heroes of the 70s, and The Hollows, an epic horror graphic novel.

Cullen still makes some time for prose, and some of his more recent short stories have been published in the Dark Arts Book collection, Like a Chinese Tattoo.

Cullen knows a little too much about classic professional wrestling and just enough to be dangerous about power tools. The son of a professional stage hypnotist, Cullen has performed as "the world's youngest hypnotist." (He also wanted to compete on the lip sync TV show, Puttin' on the Hits, but that dream never came to fruition.) Rumor has it, he makes a mean margarita. He lives in St. Louis, Missouri, and you can learn more about his work by visiting www.cullenbunn.com.

D. Mikels

D. Mikels

...is the author of three novels.  His latest novel, The Reckoning, released via Wandering Sage Publications, is his first foray into the horror genre (and, the author hopes, not his last).  A graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a degree in broadcast journalism, Mikels has worn many hats in the writing profession, from radio and print news, to broadcasting, to writing contracts and manuals for a variety of industries.  At present the author is self-employed and resides in windswept western Oklahoma.  His second novel, Walk-On, was nominated for the 2004 Mainstream Novel of the Year in the annual contest sponsored by the Oklahoma Writers' Federation.  Mikels's trademark in his fiction writing is an always-present metaphysical twist; the author delights in thinking outside the box.  The author's website, http://www.dmikels.com/, is currently under construction, but his occasional blogs and ramblings can be followed on his MySpace page at www.myspace.com/d_mikels.  All of his books can be found on online retailers Amazon and Barnes and Noble; his novel The Reckoning can be found at a special discounted price at http://www.wanderingsagebooks.com/.

Capt'n Blacks Sea Dogges

Capt'n Black's Sea Dogges

Long ago, in the time of Queen Elizabeth, brave men sailed the sea, exploring new frontiers in hopes of making their fortune in the New World. Those that were brave enough to face the dangers of uncharted seas and hostile natives earned the name Sea Dogges. “The sea calls the brave.”

We are just such men. Seafarers that have sailed from the shores of England to the savage wilderness of the New World. And if we happened to sink a Spanish Ship or two along the way, well…. who’s counting?

You see, we are not Pirates. We are Privateers, boldly riding the waves and exploring new lands in service to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth. Let me repeat, we are Privateers, and we have papers to prove it. Some men still call us pirates… We call them Spanyards.
